clo•vest: community and locally oriented investing.

Karan Jain Founder, CEO

Karan founded Clovest after living in D.C. for several years and growing frustrated with the lack of investment opportunities supporting the local economy. Prior to Clovest, he worked at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and as a freelance web developer building applications for start-up, enterprise, and foundation clients. In addition to Clovest, he serves as an advisor to several D.C. area start-ups and nonprofits. Karan holds degrees in Economics and International Relations from Tufts University and is a 2012 StartingBloc Fellow.

Masai McDougall Co-Founder, VP Product & Legal

Masai is a D.C. native and loves the idea of every day Washingtonians having a say in the economic development of their city. After spending four years at a downtown D.C. law firm in its securities enforcement and commercial litigation division, Masai decided that he wanted to make local growth and community participation his priority. Masai also serves as an attorney for local small businesses and is a graduate of Howard University Law School, Wesleyan University and the Sidwell Friends School.
